Templates are programs that are run when you publish your store to generate the final HTML for your store pages. Templates are written using RTML, which is a proprietary language used by the Yahoo! Store software. RTML is the programming language that we use to create the structure and functionality of your site. Yahoo! Stores take the RTML that we create and then automatically generate an HTML page that gets shown online. RTML is similar to HTML (the standard web programming language), but has some major differences as well. The most complicated element to RTML is the fact that it is only used by Yahoo! Stores and thus not nearly as accessible for learning and training in the mainstream. RTML is a niche programming language that you would never know if you didn't build Yahoo! Stores.
