Yahoo! Store Blog’s Finally Get Upgraded

This morning I received an email from Yahoo! Merchant Solutions that made me very happy. Finally the Yahoo! Store blog platform (WordPress) is getting updated to the newest platform (2.8). We have been working with the new platform for quite a while now and we are extremely impressed with it. Blogging has never been easier and WordPress is the best option for Yahoo! Here is a copy of the email that came from Yahoo! Small Business regarding the WordPress Blog Upgrade.

Important: We will soon upgrade your WordPress blog.

Dear Yahoo! Small Business customer,

We are writing to inform you of a critical issue related to the WordPress blog(s) you activated in your account using the tools in your Web Hosting Control Panel.

We have become aware of security vulnerabilities in WordPress version 2.0.2. To prevent hackers from exploiting these vulnerabilities and potentially damaging your blog or web site, we will soon upgrade all Yahoo! Small Business WordPress blogs running version 2.0.2 to the more secure version 2.8.

Your blog will be upgraded between August 31 and September 14, 2009.

Effects of the Upgrade on Your Blog
Please note that this upgrade will not damage your blog data, including your posts and comments, and will not break themes and plug-ins you may have activated when you set up your blog.

For most customers, the upgrade will simply fix critical security issues. You will also notice changes to your WordPress administrative control panel. (You can learn more about the WordPress control panel in the WordPress Codex.)

However, if you are an advanced user who has customized your WordPress theme or installed plug-ins not included when you activated your blog, we strongly recommend that you review your blog carefully after the upgrade, as changes in the new version may be incompatible with your modifications.

When Your Blog Will Be Upgraded
We regret that we are unable to provide the precise day and time at which your blog will be upgraded, so we encourage you to review your blog regularly during the upgrade process, from August 31 to September 14.

To verify that your blog has been upgraded, look for the WordPress version number associated with your blog in your Blog Manager or WordPress control panel. Your blog has been upgraded when you are using version 2.8 or higher. Learn how to find your version number.
